  • Proceed down the West Coast to Jacksons Bay and up to Mt Aspiring via the Arawiata Valley over the Boner Glacier and following the Matukituki Valley to Lake Wanaka.
  • Overnight in Lake Wanaka. Experience local cuisine and award winning Central Otago wine.

Day Two:

Wanaka, Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound to Te Anau

  • Fly from Lake Wanaka over the Southern Alps mountain range to Big Bay with a unique landing on a wild West Coast Beach.
  • Enjoy a short walk along the beach and savour a remoteness and tranquility few have ever experienced.
  • From here we fly south to the mouth of Milford Sound ("Piopiotahi") – described by Rudyard Kipling as the "eighth wonder of the world". It is said in Maori legends, that the fiords were created not by rivers of ice, but by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly figure who came wielding a magical adze and uttering incantations. Milford Sound is without doubt its finest sculpture. Let yourself be captivated by the breathtaking and awe inspiring views that can best be experienced by air.
  • We land for a lunch at Milford Sound.
  • After experiencing this majestic area we continue our flight south to Doubtful Sound ("Patea"), a very large and naturally imposing fiord that lies on the south west corner of the Fiordland National Park and World Heritage Area. When you discover Doubtful Sound you will be struck by its vastness and beauty.
  • From our view above we journey even further south to Dusky Sound - one of the most remote and beautiful, with numerous wooded islands and inlets. The only way to see this particular fiord, is by air.
  • Then it’s on to Te Anau where we land.
  • After checking into your accommodation take time out to relax and enjoy the environment.
  • Before dinner we visit the Fiordland Cinema to watch the 30 minute movie "Ata Whenua - Shadowlands". This movie took 5 years to produce in the World Heritage Park. It is mysterious, evocative, exhilerating and utterly spectacular.

Day Three:

Te Anau to Stewart Island

  • Today we fly to the southern most point in NZ, Stewart Island which offers the visitor a special experience - a glimpse into a simplier, slower lifestyle in rhythm with the sea and the tides, attuned to the natural world of bush and beach.
  • Stewart Island was named after William Stewart who in 1809 was aboard the "Pegasus", sailing from Port Jackson, Australia, on a sealing expedition. The National Park is known by one of the Maori names given to the Island. "Rakiura" recalls glowing sunrises and sunsets.
  • During the afternoon, there will be opportunities to explore Stewart Island further with a selection of activity options, including cod fishing, Ulva Island guided walk, kiwi spotting, or an Island tour.
  • You will enjoy the views from your accommodation before sampling Stewart Island’s fine seafood and New Zealand wines.

Day Four:

Stewart Island, Catlins Coast, Clutha River Queenstown

  • After a leisurely breakfast we will fly from this Southern gem along the eastern side of the South Island taking in views of the Catlin Coast famous for the Petrified Forest, Porpoise Bay and Catherdral Caves.
  • From Nugget Point we track inland to the Clutha River (New Zealands 2nd longest river and one of the worlds fastest flowing) to Cromwell and then following the Kawarau River back to Queenstown.
